THE DOCTOR

Dr. Michalis Klimatsidas is a thoracic surgeon, MD of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinic of AUTH. Initially trained as a military doctor, he continued his further training abroad, where he lived for several years. After obtaining his specialization and after many years of experience in patient cases in the United Kingdom, where he was a consultant director of thoracic surgery in Glasgow, he brings his education and expertise to our country. Specifically, in Thessaloniki, his hometown, he receives patients at Agios Loukas in Panorama of Thessaloniki. In collaboration with the Agios Loukas clinic, he offers patients the possibility of minimally invasive thoracic surgery, as well as robotic thoracic surgery, which is his specialty and his "part", as he calls it.

The specialty of doctor Michalis Klimatsidas is minimally invasive thoracic surgery with the single-hole technique, Uniportal Vats, as well as robotic thoracoscopic surgery, Robotic VATS (RATS). Minimally invasive thoracic surgery in the field of robotics is something very new and certainly a forerunner for the Greek data. Dr Klimatidas with the help of his team at the "AGIOS LOUKAS" Clinic, performed the first robotically assisted lobectomy with the Da Vinci X system. This is the first operation in Greece, Cyprus and the Balkans with this specific robotic surgery system, and also the first robotic thoracic surgery operation that has ever been performed in Northern Greece by a Greek thoracic surgeon.
