Thoracoscopic surgery – VATS (Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery) is chest surgery without an open incision. It is performed through small incisions, using an endoscopic camera, special tools and consumables. Essentially, what used to be done by opening the chest with a large incision to allow access to the hemithorax, is now done with one, two or three holes, which are called entrance gates.  Depending on the number of incisions performed, they are divided into operations:
